FUNCTION

Reporting to the Administrator, the Faculty Instructor provides orientation and training to HCAs (Home Care Aides), also known as Caregivers, curriculum appraisal and approval, verification of student training, and authorization of the CDSS HCS500 or approved form upon HCAs’ successful completion of the initial and annual training or other training requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible and accountable for ensuring the fulfillment of educational goals and objectives, as well as maintaining quality assurance and ensuring HCA compliance with all required agencies.
  • Responsible for monitoring, coordinating, planning, preparing, presenting, and evaluating classroom instruction, online training programs, and related activities.
  • Provide five (5) hours of initial orientation training to affiliated Home Care Aides in accordance with H&S 1569.69 on the general or core curriculum, including, but not limited to; clients' rights and safety, client's daily living needs, abuse and neglect, personal hygiene and other home care services, and transportation safety (as needed.)
  • Provide on-the-job, and at least five (5) hours of annual training in an online training program, or in a classroom setting, or both on a variety of topics.
  • Responsible for completing HCA records, including HCS500 form, in a timely manner during and at the completion of the training.
  • Responsible for identifying HCAs’ need for education and instruction
  • Responsible for preparing and administering HCA quizzes and tests, if applicable
  • Responsible for evaluating HCA performance; motivating and advising HCAs; and generating program reports as needed.
  • Responsible for assessing and identifying the instructional needs of HCAs and helping to develop appropriate lesson plans to address needs.
  • Responsible for planning, conducting, and supervising classroom and online activities in accordance with approved CDSS (California Department of Social Services) requirements and other regulatory agencies.
  • Accountable for developing, monitoring, and supervising the HCO curriculum
  • Responsible for scheduling training within the HCO, following the CDSS-approved HCO guidelines.
  • Responsible for ensuring that each HCA has completed all the requirements of the HCO set forth by H&S 1569.69, CDSS, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Provide excellent customer service; and
  • Perform other projects as assigned by the Administrator.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

  • Knowledgeable in a subject that is relevant to the subject area in which training is to be provided and who satisfies at least one of the following criteria related to education and experience:
    • At least one year of experience in an area relevant to caring for the needs of the elderly, OR
    • Licensed to work as a health care provider in California, OR
    • At least one year of experience in California as an Administrator of an RCFE
  • Medically licensed employees shall not provide medical services.
  • Complete the required Sexual Harassment Prevention Training for employees and get background clearance.
  • Successfully complete and submit Statement of Prior Criminal Convictions and Acknowledgment of Requirements to Report Suspected Abuse.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including monitoring of details

  • Ability to present information to different age groups and diverse populations effectively
